Scenario of a Corrupt Government
.
We are being watched, tracked, and analyzed to an astounding degree. I know… who cares, I’m not doing anything wrong, and it helps catch lawbreakers. But keep in mind that if a different scenario arises in society, we could become incredibly controlled by our government.
.
Just imagine a scenario where our government becomes corrupt. It would be amidst a confusing time, where no one is sure who is good and who is bad. Is the U.S. under attack? Is there internal subversion?
.

.
Let’s assume…
Cyber-attacks have brought the economy and infrastructure to its knees. The sources are untraceable. Terrorist style attacks increase and are a routine occurrence. Autonomous armed drones with facial recognition, have killed hundreds of leaders and key individuals. The culprits are unknown. New viruses and diseases keep appearing at an alarming rate. One small nuclear device went off in Europe. Warnings of dirty bombs and conspiracies are routine.
.
Media chatter is whipped up to a frenzy. What we hear is confusing. So many scenarios and possibilities. Fingers are pointed amidst the rumors. Citizens and groups in the US are accused of domestic terrorism. Anyone criticizing the government is a suspect. Protesters take to the streets, believing one scenario or another.
.
Things are desperate and we look to someone to help. But “who”?
.
The entire world is in conflict and martial law is declared to quell the chaos. Our civil rights are suspended until further notice. Elections are postponed.
.
The government says they need to have aggressive surveillance. Companies are forced to share their data with the authorities. All of our electronic devices come under the scrutiny of government. They watch and listen.
.
Anti-government rhetoric is posted online. The Internet gets heavily censored. No one knows what information to trust. Every group, person, and entity is under suspicion in at least one of the scenarios.
.
Politicians and generals are removed from duties with charges of conspiracy. What’s going on? Who’s really in charge of the government and the military?
.

It’s a movie plot, right? It must be fiction. It couldn’t really happen. Except all of the implausible parts of a movie, that make it obviously fiction, are not there this time. This scenario only seems unlikely to us now because we have enough trust in our system of government to counteract the corruption and insurgency. We have lasted 230 plus years without this level of corruption. So, does that make it impossible or even infeasible?
.
If it turns out that the corruption, and dare I say the enemy, is within our own government, then it is only citizens who are available to challenge the authorities. Now however, we people are vulnerable. The people cannot even move without the government knowing it. The citizens and freedom are in trouble.
.
For more detail on surveillance…
.
It’s worse than that. You have already been profiled with your personality, psychological tendencies, belief system, movement patterns, habits, motivations, and who you connect with. You are now predictable.
.
All of the activists and those people ready to fight back, are being rounded up in large numbers. People with any hint of indignation are rounded up as well.
.
Do we have hope in our military and police? Surely they won’t let this happen. However, they are all as confused as we are as to who should be blamed. Should they follow orders, or make themselves vulnerable by resisting? I would like to think that they stand strong and follow their instincts, but history doesn’t bear this out.
.
Maybe if we all march out in mass, a hundred million of us, taking over every building and roadway, a gun in very hand, maybe then we can take it back.
.
But we are confused and undecided as well. Could there be other countries involved, or individual sinister people to blame? Should we wait for someone with power or influence to save us?
.
I like to think that the people would take things into their own hands, take to the streets, and take back their country. But history doesn’t bear this out either.
.

.
When you don’t control your government, when you don’t control your news, you are vulnerable.
.
We can change this. We can solve this problem now. But we need to act soon. Strengthening the citizens’ voice in our democracy can solve this!
